Kathmandu after the 2024 flooding and landslides

End of September 2024 Nepalese capital Kathmandu was inundated by floodwaters after record-breaking monsoon rains which caused the Bagmati river to breach its banks. More than 200 people have been killed and thousands of houses damaged in the worst flooding and landslides in the Kathmandu valley in decades. This photo, taken ca. three weeks after the flood, shows the remnants and geomorphic consequences of this devastating event.
