DSC_0253 - Version 2Emmanuel REYNARD is Professor of Physical Geography at the University of Lausanne since 2005 and Professor Honoris Causa of the University of Bucharest (2015). He has been president of the Swiss Geomorphological Society (2005-2007) and president of the Swiss Working Group on Geosites (2006-2017). He is also a member of the Swiss Hydrological Commission since 2009. Within the IAG he has been chairman of the Working Group on Geomorphosites (2001-2013) and Publications Officer (2013-2017). He is one of the editors of the Swiss journal Geographica Helvetica, and is member of the reviewing committee of several geography and geomorphology journals (Géomorphologie, Géocarrefour, Geoheritage, GeoJournal of Geotourism and Geosites).
His research interests are water management issues, in particular in mountain areas, mountain geomorphology, and geomorphological heritage analysis and promotion (geotourism). During the last years he has conducted research on integrated water management modeling and on methodological issues related to geoheritage (assessment, mapping, geovisualisation). His main field areas are situated in Switzerland, Romania, Tunisia and Morocco. He has recently edited with José Brilha the book Geoheritage: Assessment, Protection, and Management (Elsevier, 2018), written by a panel of 46 authors from 14 countries.
