Front cover GEOMORPHOLOGY: A Collection of Images
Edited by Mike Slattery
CD-ROM CD-ROM with 870 images of landforms and processes; images were taken by various photographers
Thematic sections:
1Endogenic processes and Landforms
Photograph by Jeff Munro
View of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge/Graben in Pingvellir, Iceland
2Weathering
Photograph by Carmen Krapf
Solution of carbonate stones of the Kuibis Subgroup (Nama Group), Southern Namibia
3Slope Processes and Forms
Photograph by Bernie Bauer
Hillslope processes (presumably sheet wash and soil creep) have removed approximately 1 meter of soil to expose the root system of the tree. Photo taken in the mountains immediately north of Lake Arrowhead, California
4Fluvial Processes
Photograph by Richard Kesel
Suspended load (lower channel) and bedload (clear upper channel) confluence, Costa Rica
5Fluvial Landforms
Photograph by Norm Catto
Beaver River, Labrador. A meandering stream developed on marine silt and sand; active downcutting in response to falling sea level at 1-2 mm a-1
6Aeolian Processes and Landforms
Photograph by Patrick Hesp
Sinuous, barchanoidal transverse dunes on a transgressive dunefield in an arid environment at Guerrero Negro, Baja California, Mexico
7Glacial Processes and Landforms
Photograph by Umberto Fracassi
Northern slope of Mt. Scindarella, Campo Imperatore intermontane Quaternary basin, Gran Sasso range (central Italy). This is a remnant of a thrust sheet belonging to the Gran Sasso imbricate, here represented by folded strata of Fucoida Marls Formation (Lower Cenomanian - Aptian). What you see is an array of glacial cirques (clearly developed only on its northern flank) with conspicuous moraines downslope. These moraines underwent extensive karst and piping (common to the overall Campo Imperatore basin). Some fractures are found on the moraines surface (although very smoothed) but it is unclear whether they mimic underlying faults or strata terminations from below or they are minor Quaternary fault splays
8Periglacial
Photograph by Matthias Jakob
Ice lens in permafrost on the Coppermine River, Northwest Territories, Canada
9Karst
Photograph by Heather Viles
A cenote (similar feature to a doline) at Otjikoto, Namibia
10Coastal processes
Photograph by Rob Brander
Surging wave at Cape Leeuwin, Western Australia
11Coastal Landforms
Photograph by Ann Dittmer
Point Sur State Historic Park (and lighthouse). Tombolo extends from mainland (on left) to offshore volcanic rock. Photographed along Highway 1, Central Coast, California
12Lithology and Structure
Photograph by Nicolaus Kuhn
Table mountain near Mitzpe Ramon, central Negev, Israel
13Composite Images from front cover

GEOMORPHOLOGY CD-ROM - OVERSEAS BUYERS

Hello all....sales of the CD-ROM are steaming ahead. However, folks from countries outside the US have expressed a difficulty in getting bank cheques cut in US dollars. For those who want to get the CD, we can do one of two things:

  1. Just write me a cheque from your account in whatever currency, and my bank here will be able to cash it and convert it at the exchange rate. Make sure you allow a little leeway for rate fluctuations. Make sure that the cheque is made out to ME (Mike Slattery) as I cannot mail a foreign cheque up to the AAG offices.
  2. You can wire money directly into my account and I'll write a cheque to the Geomorphology Specialty Group from my personal account. For those who want to do this, please email me - m.slattery@tcu.edu - and I'll give you my routing and account information.
