Morgan DE DAPPER is Professor of Physical Geography at the Department of Geography of Ghent University. His main research interests are in the regional geomorphology and geo-archaeology of tropical and Mediterranean regions with special attention for Developing Countries. He worked/works in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey (Anatolia), Syria, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Bahrain, Iran, Egypt (Nile Delta & Upper Egypt), Sudan (Nubia), Socotra Island (Yemen), Morocco, Tunisia, Cameroon, Zaire/Congo, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, and Easter Island (Chile).In 1995 he created the IAG-Working Group on Geo-archaeology which he served as President and Vice-President. He is Past-President (2001-2005) of the Belgian Association of Geomorphologists, Vice-Chairman of the Belgian Society for Geographical Studies, member of the Editorial Board of BELGEO – the Belgian Journal of Geography and member of the National Committee for Geography and the National Committee for the Study of the Quaternary of the Belgian Royal Academy of Sciences. Professor Morgan De Dapper is Fellow and Past-President (2005) of the Belgian Royal Academy of Overseas Sciences in which he chairs the ‘Commission on Development & Environment’.
