Preliminary Questionnaire

The 32nd International Geological Congress (32IGC) will be held from August 20 to 28, 2004 in Florence, Italy. The Congress is being organised in co-operation with and under the sponsorship of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and the various member countries of the Mediterranean Consortium. It has been designed to set up a forum for a broad debate of the most significant advances in the geological sciences, as well as to promote discussion of the Congress theme:

From the Mediterranean Area toward a Global Geological Renaissance
Geology, Natural Hazards, and Cultural Heritage

The deadline for returning the Preliminary Questionnaire is 30 SEPTEMBER 2002.
The Second Circular will be sent only to those responding to the Preliminary Questionnaire.

Those planning to attend the Congress are strongly encouraged to complete and submit the questionnaire on-line to arrive no later than September 30, 2002 using the electronic form at http://www.32igc.org

Early responses are important to the Organizing Committee because they aid in setting the Scientific Sessions, Workshops, Short Courses and Field Trips.

IAG will be deeply involved in the Congress promoting a series of activities such as:

TOPICAL SYMPOSIA

GENERAL SYMPOSIA WORKSHOPS SHORT COURSES In addition several PRE- and POST-CONGRESS FIELD TRIPS will deal with Geomorphology.

I strongly encourage as many geomorphologists as possible to take part in the Congress. Meanwhile, I invite you to return the Preliminary Questionnaire in order to be kept informed on the Congress programme and activities.
