International Course on Dynamic of fluvial systems: processes and morphologies the Paraná River (Brazil) October 15-25, 2004 |

A ten days, international course on "Dynamic of fluvial systems: processes and morphologies" was held in the Paraná river, Brazil from October 15 to 25, 2004. This course was an activity supported by the International Association of Geomorphologist and local organizations. The main objective of this course was training young geomorphologists, mainly from Latinamerican countries, in the study of large alluvial rivers. With this aim, the course had either a solid theoretical focus as well as a main field research component. The students also become familiar in the use of techniques and equipments devote to the study of large rivers. The course was held at the field station of the NUPELIA/University of Maringá, Brazil, on the Parana River, one of the largest fluvial systems around the world. Thirty graduates students in Geography, Geology, Biology, Ecology, Engineers and other professionals related to the study of fluvial systems from Brazil, Argetina, Mexico, Venezuela ad Perú, participated in this course. Grants from IAG were offered to students from Mexico (1), Argentina (3) and Venezuela (1).
