hvHeather VILES is Professor of Biogeomorphology and Heritage Conservation in the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford. Her main research interests are in the interactions between ecological and geomorphological processes, rock weathering and the application of geomorphological techniques to heritage conservation. She is particularly interested in developing novel, field-based techniques for evaluating geomorphic process dynamics. She has written or edited 14 books and volumes and has published more than 40 papers in international refereed journals and books. She is an Associate Editor of Earth Surface Processes and Landforms (published by Wiley) and of ESurf (published by the EGU), as well as on the editorial board of Transactions, Institute of British Geographers. She is currently the Chair of the British Society for Geomorphology.
