Other events

Please let us know about any event you are running associated with International Geomorphology Week!

  • Thursday 6th to Saturday 8th March – course “Geodiversity and Geoheritage – Contribution of Geosciences to the Global Environmental Agenda”. The course takes place in-person at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy), and is given by Piotr Migoń (University of Wroclaw, Poland). Find the course leaflet here.
Course content

The course aims to explore interrelated concepts such as geodiversity, geoheritage and geoconservation, focusing on both theoretical aspects as well as practical applications and associated challenges, using specific examples from various parts of the world. The series of seminars will start with defining the key concepts and an overview of developments in the last three-four decades, which led to the increasing recognition of the value of abiotic nature and its services. Particular emphasis will be placed on global institutional frameworks which contribute to the growing awareness of geodiversity issues such as World Heritage, UNESCO Global Geoparks and selected initiatives of international organizations.

  • Saturday 8th March – 5th “Women in Geomorphology” Online Workshop organised by the Hellenic Committee for Geomorphology & Environment of the Geological Society of Greece, under the auspices of the IAG.
