Reports by IAG Grant Holder – the II European Young Geomorphologists Meeting (Italy/Slovenia/Croatia, 25-27 June 2026)

The II European Young Geomorphologists Meeting (II EYGM) was held in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, from 25–27 June 2026.The International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) offered 1 travel grant of 400 euros (four hundred Euros) to support the participation of one Young Geomorphologist (except from Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia) in the event. Well done to the grant winner!

The grant holder considered that this meeting was an exceptional opportunity for early-career researchers to exchange innovative perspectives on geomorphological processes, coastal dynamic landscape evolution, and scientific methodology. The grant holder had the valuable opportunity to present their research focusing on coastal geomorphology, submerged harbor environments, and geoarchaeological hazards. They thought that the interactive sessions provided highly constructive feedback from mentors and senior international geomorphologists. The transboundary field trips across the diverse landscapes of Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia they considered offered invaluable practical insights. The informal atmosphere they felt fostered fruitful discussions with fellow young scientists across Europe. Where these interactions paved the way for potential multidisciplinary collaborations combining coastal geomorphology, remote sensing, and heritage preservation.
