Sam McColl works at GNS Science, New Zealand, in the engineering geology team. As an applied geomorphologist he uses cross-disciplinary approaches to solve problems spanning natural hazards, agriculture, engineering geology, and environmental science, with primary expertise in landslide research and Quaternary geomorphology. His PhD (2013) was from University of Canterbury, and his BSc Hons (2006) was from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. From 2013-2022 he held a lectureship in physical geography at Massey University, and previously taught geology at a polytechnic college and worked as a graduate for GNS Science. He is Vice-President of the Geoscience Society of New Zealand and on the Executive Committee of the Australian and New Zealand Geomorphology Group. He is on the organising committee for the next IAG International Conference, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
